Midia Veryani, Headhunter at Chase Global
What's your background, and how did you end up at the Academy?
I have a creative background, having studied art, design and architecture, and started my career as a visual merchandiser. However, I eventually reached a point where I’d achieved all I wanted in this space, and was hungry for a new challenge. After a bit of soul searching and research, I found Chase Global and read about the Academy.
What drew me to the Academy was the promise of training and assistance in building a career. I wanted a professional role, but had zero experience. During the initial interview rounds, Nick and Sam spoke inspiringly about the role, support, hybrid working environment and the future. I knew that I’d found the ideal company.
What made the Academy a good experience for you?
A highlight for me was the practical exercises. I enjoyed the full range of topics, but particularly valued how we then directly put these teachings into practice. For example, a morning was spent exploring scenarios around talking to candidates, and in the afternoon we were actually finding a candidate and talking to them. This was far more effective for me than just 6 weeks of learning.
Nick was there to help and answer any questions, as were the previous Academy graduates and wider team; despite being very busy. Everyone was very supportive.
Where are you now?
I’m currently working for Chase Global with all the roles across Newton Chase, Chase Global Technology etc as I’ve not yet chosen which specialist group to join. I’m supporting Nick and we’re a great team!,
After a few weeks I had my first interview request, and I have a few candidates now in the final stages. It’s happened faster than I expected which is all very exciting for me.
What excites you about the future?
Making deals (!), one day becoming a leader within Chase Global, and possibly working in another country/office as the company grows.
